Facilities management
The way people work is changing. Optimising facilities to match staff demand is an opportunity that can’t be missed.
But although improved working processes and streamlining office facilities can have a significant impact on operational costs, many businesses have not taken the step to capitalise on the opportunity.
How Sumerian can help
Sumerian has pioneered a fact-based, data-driven approach to facilities management planning. By capturing, modelling and analysing employee activity data from across IT and facilities usage, IT Analytics provides insight that enables businesses to tailor office facilities to optimised levels of efficiency and cost effectiveness.
The resulting insight can help businesses realise significant cost-savings from areas such as:
- Estate consolidation
- Office utilisation
- Flexible working – hot-desking, mobility
- Meeting room provisioning
- Right-sizing insurance cover
- Choosing outsourcing suppliers
- Ongoing facilities provisioning
How the analysis works
Baselines current facilities’ usage
Our facilities analysis captures data from across both the IT and business environment to determine an accurate baseline of your current facilities usage and office population. Data is taken from a variety of sources such as HR records, door swipes, canteen usage and meeting room bookings, and is then correlated against IT usage data to build an accurate model of staff usage by chosen demographics, for example, location, grade or job role.
Runs "what if?" scenarios to accurately forecast impact
The baseline analysis can then be modelled against various chosen "what if?" scenarios around your facilities strategy. The advantage of this approach is that the impact of change can be determined before applying it in reality – giving you valuable insight to choose which scenario makes most practical and business sense. Scenario modelling can be based around the myriad of facilities decision making spaces. The resulting insight provides accurate projections on decision making areas such as office space sizing, outsourcing, cost reduction and travel policy.
Measures success for ongoing management
When facilities initiatives are put into practice IT Analytics tracks their relative progress and business impact by taking regular samples of staff access data, enabling an ongoing understanding of usage for planning future initiatives. The advantage of ongoing monitoring using data-driven insight is that businesses can maintain a firm grip of their facilities strategy and ensure provisioning is optimised at all times to the changing business and staff environment.
