Role and responsibilities

The Senior Consultant will have the following responsibilities:

• Provide our clients with insight on the IT solutions they have in place to support their existing services.
• To engage with senior IT executives within blue chip clients to deliver and maximise our services.
• Help our clients understand and analyse their business challenges and provide insight and informed recommendations around strategic IT investments and decisions.
• Adapting our service to respond to client needs.
• Understanding and delivering the components that make up our service, and how they fit with our customers.
• Writing scripts, configuring databases, responding to client requests and capturing requirements from customers.
• Winning the trust of technical specialists and managers within our client base.

The role can be based either in our Glasgow or Edinburgh office with some occasional UK-wide travel to meet with customers.

Requirements

This is a critical role for Sumerian and the candidate must display values and performance acumens that are vital to our business success.

Applicants must possess:

• A good university degree.
• Minimum of 5 years IT industry experience or big 4 consultancy.
• Demonstrable domain knowledge in at least one of the following areas:
  • Enterprise architecture.
  • Networking.
  • Telecoms.
  • Storage.
  • Alignment of business and IT.
• Knowledge and experience of the typical challenges faced by large corporate IT departments.
• Experience in providing data driven analysis, whether it be financial, technical or process related.
• Experience of MS Excel or other tools that will enable you to analyse and present your findings to our clients.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Track record of engaging successfully with senior-level customer contacts.

The following experience would be an advantage:

• Working with large databases.
• Business intelligence systems.
• SQL, MS SQLServer or data warehouses.

Reporting to the Customer Lead Analyst, the successful candidate will help our clients understand their business challenges through data analysis; proactively providing them with insight information and making recommendations around their possible choices in strategic business and IT investments.

Role and responsibilities

The successful candidate will also be responsible for supporting the development and use of business and numerical models within the company. Additionally to the above your main responsibilities will consist of:

• Provide clients with insight into their current IT solutions.
• Understand clients business challenges specifically around their IT systems / infrastructure.
• To engage with senior IT executives to deliver and maximise our services.
• Win the trust of technical specialists and managers within our client base, building and maintaining excellent relationships.
• Define new opportunities with existing clients.
• Support in providing strategic direction to our customers.
• Research market for relevant new technology trends and service opportunities.
• Identify and develop analytical, computer-based models that will help us to add further insight into client data.
• Drive and support the culture of the client business towards use of new analytical models and techniques.

Requirements

• A good numerate degree or professional equivalent.
• 5+ years experience of experience in a similar discipline.
• Experience in providing data driven analysis, whether it be financial, technical or process related.
• Technical leadership.

• Strong Excel modelling skills.
• SQL and data analysis skills.
• This is a highly customer-focussed role, hence the candidate must have:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • The ability to work on own initiative, a self-starter: but being able to turn to the appropriate employee when support is needed.

The following would be desirable:

• Experience in consultancy, financial, IT or technology sector.
• Business or numeric postgraduate degree.

• Experience and/or knowledge of 3 or more:

Requirements

This is a critical role for Sumerian and the candidate must display values and perfomance acumens that are vital to our business success.

Applicants must possess:

• A 2:1 degree or above.
• Minimum of 1 years' IT industry experience or big 4 consultancy.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• At least one of the following technologies:
  • VBScript.
  • .NET Development.
  • SQL Server databases.
  • SQL programming or
  • MS Access Development.

Reporting to the IT Director, your main responsibilities will be:

• Administration of SQL Server based databases.
• Creation, configuration and maintenance of SQL Server database environments.
• Day-to-day troubleshooting of database performance issues.
• Creation and maintenance of database backup and recovery procedures.
• Creation and maintenance of database DR procedures.
• Database releases.
• Other duties as requested.

Requirements

Applicants must have:

• 5 years SQL Server database administration experience in a commercial environment.
• 1 year experience of MS Server 2003.
• Demonstrable experience of database tuning.
• Excellent technical knowledge base and problem solving skills specifically within the SQL field.
• Knowledge and experience of high availability data replication in the SQL environment.
• Worked on business critical systems.

The following experience would be an advantage:

• SQL Server 2005 database administration.
• Backup Exec 10.
• Dell servers.

Reporting to the Service Delivery Manager, your main responsibilities will be to support our Service Delivery organisation by managing the importing and processing of client data and handling of related Incidents and Changes.

Role and responsibilities

Reporting to the Customer Lead Analyst, you will be responsible for:

• Managing the data import and modeling from a variety of IT systems and undertake liaison with clients.
• Acting as a focal point for managing incidents and changes both internally and for clients.
• Taking responsibility for managing the running of a client facing service.
• Constantly review processes and procedures looking for areas of improvement.

Must have:

• University degree.
• Microsoft platform knowledge essential.
• Knowledge of ITIL processes
• Service Management experience
• SQL & SQL Server knowledge would be an advantage

Reporting to the Director of Technology, you will be responsible for:

• Rapid application development for DBS and Web portals.
• Implement document testing.
• Database skills: importing data, database design and build.

• Degree in computer science or equivalent.
• 2 years + experience in database development.
• 2 years + experience in web application / Microsoft technologies.
• 1 year + experience in software life cycle.
